Why we built a CV checker
As engineering recruiters we read thousands of CVs, and again and again we see capable people let down by their CV rather than their experience. Many employers and agencies now use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to sort applications. A layout the software cannot read, or a CV that is missing the words in the job advert, can push a strong candidate down the list before anyone looks at it.

What the CV check looks at
Every CV gets a score out of 100, broken down into five areas:

Our CV rewrite and score check does the work for you. First we review your CV and research the job you want, comparing it with the roles you have already done. Then we ask you a few quick questions, including whether you also did things that are common in your past roles and useful for the new one. That is how we bring out the transferable experience most people leave off their CV.

How to get the most from the CV checker
- Add the job advert. The keyword check is far sharper when it can compare your CV with a real advert.
- Check one job at a time. A CV aimed at one role will nearly always beat a general one.
- Fill in the brackets. Where a suggestion shows a figure in [square brackets], swap in your real numbers.
- Read it back. AI can make mistakes, so check every detail is accurate before you send your CV.
What happens to your CV?
