HGV Driver Jobs and LGV Driver Recruitment
HGV driver jobs move almost everything the UK buys, builds and eats. Every supermarket shelf, building site and factory relies on lorry drivers who arrive safely and on time. Bernoullis recruits for HGV driver jobs and class 1 driver jobs across trunking, multi-drop, tipper, tanker and chilled work, and checks licences, Driver CPC, tachograph cards and references before anyone starts.
Why Employers Use Us for HGV Driver Jobs
An empty cab means missed deliveries and unhappy customers. The Department for Transport found that 20% of HGV businesses with driver vacancies reported missed deliveries in late 2024 (DfT). We ask about your routes, your trailers and your shifts, then match every LGV driver on the work they have really done.
We Know the Work
We ask about trunking, multi-drop, nights, tramping and trailer types before we search. Candidates are matched on the HGV jobs they have actually done.
Licences Checked
We confirm licence categories, endorsements, Driver CPC, tachograph cards and recent references before anyone is put forward.

How to Hire for HGV Driver Jobs: A Practical Guide
Start with the work. Say whether the role is Class 1 or Class 2, the trailer types, the routes and whether drivers night out. Drivers choose HGV driver jobs by start times, days off and home time, so be specific.
Next, check the legal basics. Drivers need the right licence category, a Driver CPC card and a tachograph card. Professional drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic Driver CPC training every five years (GOV.UK).
Then decide on experience. Some HGV jobs suit newly qualified drivers with support, while tanker or hiab work needs proven experience and extra training.
Finally, move quickly. Good drivers are often offered work within days.
What we assess
- Licence category and points
- Driver CPC and tachograph card

Nothing in practice. HGV (heavy goods vehicle) and LGV (large goods vehicle) both mean lorries over 3.5 tonnes. An LGV driver and an HGV driver do the same job.
What are class 1 driver jobs?
Class 1 driver jobs need a C+E licence, which lets you drive an articulated lorry or a rigid lorry with a heavy trailer. Class 2 jobs need a C licence for rigid lorries.
What do I need to become an HGV driver?
GOV.UK says you need a full car licence, to be over 18 (with some exceptions), a provisional lorry licence and the Driver CPC, which is made up of five tests.
How much do HGV driver jobs pay?
The National Careers Service puts typical pay for a large goods vehicle driver at £27,000 for a starter rising to £47,000 for an experienced person. Class 1 and night work often pay more.
Do HGV drivers need ongoing training?
Yes. Professional drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic Driver CPC training every five years to keep their Driver CPC card.
Do you recruit for newly qualified HGV drivers?
Yes. Some employers welcome newly qualified drivers and give them support on the road. We tell you which HGV jobs are open to new drivers.
