Engineering Recruitment Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight builds aircraft structures, designs the radars that protect Royal Navy warships and makes wind turbine blades. Bernoullis delivers engineering recruitment Isle of Wight employers can rely on, from Cowes and East Cowes to Newport, Ryde and Sandown. Our engineers recruit engineers for aerospace, defence, composites and marine work.
Why the Isle of Wight Needs Specialist Engineering Recruitment
Engineering recruitment Isle of Wight employers need is concentrated in a few highly skilled businesses. GKN Aerospace is the island’s largest private employer, with nearly 1,000 staff in Cowes and East Cowes making advanced composite structures, and it has invested £10m in cleanrooms and training. In December 2025 it agreed a partnership with Anduril UK to work on future military drones, which could add more than 100 jobs if the programme goes ahead.
BAE Systems employs around 350 people in Cowes designing naval radars, including Sampson, Artisan and the Type 1850M long-range radar. It hired more than 100 radar specialists in a year and has doubled radar turnover in three years. In Newport, a £20m government grant announced in January 2026 saved more than 300 jobs at Vestas and is turning the site into the UK’s only onshore wind turbine blade factory.
Marine engineering runs through the island’s history. Wight Shipyard in East Cowes builds fast ferries and workboats as part of the OCEA group, the ferry operators need marine engineers, and the Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre off the south coast has consent for a tidal energy site. The Isle of Wight Council supports local business growth. We recruit engineering jobs in Cowes, engineering jobs in Newport and across the whole island.
